On the afternoon of December 7, 2024, the 2024 "Xiamen University-Jinyuan-Siming Talent Retention" College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition held a final roadshow and award ceremony in the 552 Lecture Hall of the School of Physical Science and Technology of Xiamen University. Lin Yueyao, a master's student of the research group, is the team leader, and Du Fengxian, a doctoral student of the class of 2022, is the core member of the project "Focus Medical: An Endoscopic OCT Imaging System Combined with Irreversible Electroporation Ablation Therapy", which won the first prize of the 2024 "Xiamen University-Jinyuan-Siming Talent Retention" College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition.
Since the launch of this September, the "Xiamen University-Jinyuan-Siming Talent Retention" College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition has attracted the enthusiastic participation of 17 entrepreneurial teams from Xiamen University. The participating projects cover multiple tracks such as environmental protection, artificial intelligence, biomedicine, and new energy, ranging from high-tech research and development to the upgrading and transformation of traditional industries, from social livelihood innovation to the expansion of cultural and creative industries. The industry fields are rich, fully demonstrating the broad vision and unlimited potential of Xiamen University students in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship. After the project solicitation and the preliminary selection of the organizing committee, 12 high-quality projects were finally shortlisted for the finals. In the fierce competition, Lin Yueyao and Du Fengxian stood out and won the first prize with months of careful preparation.
Lin Yueyao and Du Fengxian noticed that as the global population grows and ages, gastrointestinal diseases are increasing, and the demand for efficient diagnosis and treatment technologies is growing. Faced with the lack of technology on the market, their team innovatively combined OCT, IRE and AI technologies. OCT provides clear gastrointestinal imaging, AI assists in identifying lesions, and IRE accurately ablates tumors. Their project not only achieves accurate diagnosis and treatment, but also improves efficacy and reduces costs.
Congratulations to the two students of our center for their excellent results! We look forward to more public health students showing their innovative wisdom and entrepreneurial enthusiasm, continuing to forge ahead on the road of entrepreneurship in the future, and contributing more to promoting scientific and technological innovation and economic development. The college will continue to provide support and assistance for students to participate in the innovation and entrepreneurship competition, and "use competition to promote learning" to continuously improve students' professional practice and innovation capabilities.
