The 2024 Symposium on Optical Coherence Tomography Technology and Applications was successfully held on July 15-16, 2024 in Xiamen, Fujian, China. The meeting was co-sponsored by the National Key Laboratory of Infectious Disease Vaccine R&D, State Key Laboratory of Molecular Vaccinology and Molecular Diagnostics, Xiamen University Research Center of Molecular Imaging and Translational Medicine, Xiamen University School of Public Health, and Xiang'an Innovation Laboratory. The conference is organized under the theme of "Optical Coherence Tomography: Current and Future Developments", aiming to promote the communication and cooperation in the research field of OCT imaging and its related imaging techniques.
The opening ceremony of the conference was hosted by Associate Professor Zhao Qingliang from School of Public Health, Xiamen University. On behalf of the organizers, Prof. Yuan Quan, Deputy Director of National Key Laboratory of Infectious Disease Vaccine Research and Development, delivered a welcome speech, expressing his warm welcome and heartfelt thanks to all the experts and scholars, and he hoped that this conference could provide a valuable exchange platform for the development of OCT business.
Prof. Ruikang Wang from the University of Washington (Seattle, USA) then delivered a speech, stating that OCT technology has not only made breakthroughs in ophthalmology, but also shows a wide range of prospects for application in molecular imaging, brain science, and skin, oral cavity and other fields. Immediately after, Prof. Wang gave an invited lecture on the imaging principles, equipment development, clinical applications and future trends of OCT/OCTA technology, which triggered in-depth thoughts and lively discussions among the participants.

During the meeting, Prof. Wang Ruikang and his delegation, accompanied by Prof. Ge Shengxiang, Vice Dean of School of Public Health, Xiamen University, visited the National Key Laboratory of Infectious Disease Vaccine Research and Development, and learned in detail about the laboratory's new technologies and methods in vaccine research and translation. Afterwards, they visited the Molecular Imaging Center and saw the advanced imaging equipment such as PET and MRI, as well as the optical imaging platform and the multimodal optical and molecular imaging experimental platform.
With the successful conclusion of the conference, the participants expressed that they had benefited a lot and were full of confidence and expectation for the future development of OCT technology. This conference not only builds a platform for domestic and foreign experts, scholars and entrepreneurs to communicate and learn, but also injects new vitality and power into the development of OCT technology. It is believed that in the near future, OCT technology will show its unique advantages and value in more fields, and make more excellent contributions to the cause of human health.
